Who Can Sing in the Capital City Chorus?
The chorus is open to all singers and voice types ages 16 and up.
When and where are Auditions?
Auditions will be announced on our homepage, and are generally held in August and January. All will be auditioned in the order in which they arrive. If you are unable to make the scheduled auditions, please email the director ([email protected]) to arrange another audition time.
Auditions take about 5-10 minutes, and we regularly audition singers of all skill levels and backgrounds. The auditions consist of a brief chat about musical background, a range check, an ear check, some sight reading, and then likely a familiar song (think “happy birthday” or “my country tis of thee” or something along those lines). We don’t expect perfection, just an honest check of who you are and where you’re at musically. There’s nothing to prepare in advance. We have folks with multiple music degrees; along with folks who have never sung in a choir at all, so we aim to make auditions as authentic and approachable as possible.
When are rehearsals?
The Mixed Ensemble rehearses on Monday Evenings from 6:30-9PM.
The Women’s Ensemble rehearses on Tuesday Evenings from 6:30-8:30PM.
Does it cost money to sing?
There are dues for each singer, between $50 and $100 per concert. This helps offset the cost of purchasing music and providing modest stipends to the director and accompanist. However, if a financial difficulty presents its self, dues may be waived at the director’s discretion.
Will you charge admission at concerts?
No. We will raise money for a charity on a donation basis, but concerts will be free.
Do you have a board?
Yes! We have an enthusiastic board of 9 people who are doing much work behind the scenes.
How Do I Stay Up to date?

How Can I Help?
As time goes on, we will need volunteers! More info to come on this as rehearsals begin.
